Old Barn

This old barn looks like it has seen better days, but it is still used at least to store equipment. The older barns were built sturdy and last even without much upkeep.

With the cooler weather, the cornfield behind this barn will soon be harvested.

Klig's Kites

I always visit the kite shop on our family's vacation. Those close to me know that I love to fly kites. (Well, now everyone knows).

The walls and ceiling in Klig's are covered with kites; adult kites as well as children's kites. I bought a six foot wide delta kite, some are 10 feet wide.
This is me flying my kite at the beach.

Mellow Yellow Monday

This photo of a soybean field was taken last week. Before harvesting, the plants will have to turn brown and dry. It won't take too long with the cooler weather....

This photo is a simple reflection in a glass tabletop in my kitchen.

Skywatch

I spotted this unusual little cloud and thought it might be a sundog. A sundog is a colored patch of light to the right or left of the sun and the same distance above the horizon as the sun.

Is it my imagination, or is there a heart shape at the bottom of that cloud....
Update: Dewdrop, at The Flight of a South Georgia Stormchaser, has commented that this is not a sundog but another phenomenon known as a circumhorizontal arc, and she's put a link in the comment box. Head over to her site for interesting weather related info.

A Common Sight in Farm Country

Hay is grass that has been cut, dried, and stored for use as animal feed. After the hay is cut, it is left to dry in the sun, then raked into long narrow piles, then gathered up in some form of baling process. All done with machinery.

Good quality hay will be green and not too coarse, and should contain plant heads and leaves as well as stems.
Hay bales can be either rectangle shaped or round.

Junk

I spotted this little tower from the interstate, and I quickly exited to investigate...

So much stuff everywhere....not sure what this is.... (notice the chickens )...
Just looks like a bunch of junk to me....

Abandoned

This entire property has been deserted ....left to fall into decay....I have often seen this neglect in rural regions....and I wonder why....

A front view....this house has been empty for a long time.....

Skywatch

I am back from my beach vacation....and although the skies were not fantastic, it was wonderful being near the ocean...

the view of the beach was taken from this upper deck of the beach house we rented....

Not Ohio

This is our family vacation week at Myrtle Beach, S.C....and this is the view from the deck of our beach cottage. Since my family is in many different states; this is the time for us to all be together.
And if you're looking for me this week, I'll be blogging from under this blue umbrella....

Barns

The predominantly white barns in Ohio suggest the idea of cleanliness and purity...both good associations for milk. The next most popular color (in OH) is red...my personal favorite. Green is an unusual barn color.....but I like it.

Skywatch

I usually drive by this large horse barn several times a week...and one time, as I rounded the corner, this painted sky came in view...

Now and Then

I took this photo last week and the corn has grown since I took my header shot.

This winter photo appears quite stark in comparison.
