E is for Erie

Lake Erie is the smallest of the Great Lakes in volume, and borders the northeast portion of Ohio.  This is the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse at the end of the West Breakwater in Lake Erie.  The lighthouse is a square cast iron tower attached to a 2-story cast iron keeper's house.  Built in 1925,  it is now automated and managed by the Coast Guard.

This is the old Fairport Harbor Lighthouse which is now a museum. It was operational from 1825 to 1925 when the lighthouse above replaced it.

Skywatch Friday

A few days ago we had a rain storm with high winds and some hail....it came on quickly... and stopped... then started again.  I went out during the break to catch a few shots...

There is a small part of a rainbow in this one....

This is the calm before it started up again...

Now and Then

What a difference a day makes...yesterday we had alot of snow ....today it's gone.  These next three photos were taken two months apart. The first one was in January...

This one was November...

And all this green foliage was in September...
Today is a sunny day and it seems like the hope of spring is in the air... OK, so maybe I'm just rushing the seasons along...

D is for Divide

The Continental Divide of the Americas or merely The Great Divide is the name given to the separation of the watersheds...those that drain into the Pacific from those that drain into the Atlantic...it follows a line of high peaks along the American and Canadian Rocky Mountains...generally at a much higher elevation than that of the other divides...
I took this photo in CO in 2007...

C is for Colorado

My favorite place to visit is the beautiful state of Colorado, home to Rocky Mountain National Park with its forests, streams, lakes and meadows.  The entire park is a wildlife refuge, and elk are pretty commonplace.  This herd was unconcerned with visitors...
