Skywatch

I was traveling from NC to OH....the early morning sun was splashing light and shadows across the interstate...when I pulled off the road to get a shot of that hill in the distance with the dark cloud hanging over it.

I don't know if it is just a hill with a knob on top...or a well known landmark in NC...
Update: Maria over at KAP has commented that this looks like Mt. Pilot.  I googled it and she's right. The pinnacle, called The Knob, has 200 ft. high bare rock walls and a rounded top covered in vegetation.

There's so much in these shots - the mix of cloud shapes, the unusual hill, and the striped shadows across the road. Very interesting!

I think that it is a well known landmark but I cannot remember its name right now.

Beautiful shots!

Great looking sky and that sure does look like a knob on the hill.

Great lighting. The best light is always early in the morning. Love those shadows, too. Great shots and glad you were able to snap them at that time of day!

Beautiful pictures.

Where in NC were these taken, obviously off of 77(?) correct?

We are close, I'm (south of Columbus and north of Lockbourne) in Obetz.

Like everyone said, it is lush green and beautiful. I was hoping someone will identify the land mark, but seems not.

Magnificent shots! Both of them! As Linda said, there is so much in each one! Really outstanding composition!

Have a great weekend.

this looks like it could be Pilot Mountain, see if that is on your route.
this is the area that inspired the towns in the Andy Griffith Show, Pilot Mountain was what they called Mount Pilot and Mayberry is considered to be Mount Airy, NC.

Before I read Maria's comment I was going to ask if this was near Mayberry! :)

That first shot I really like. The light and shadow play is wonderful.

BTW: I have followed part of the Quilt Barn Trail there in Monroe Co.

I loved your photos. So green. And inviting.

I noticed from your profile that we share similar tastes in books. Maybe we've got some kindred spirit?

Beautiful entries for Skywatch. Love that mountain photo and so wish I had a view of other than houses in my neighborhood!

Love the clouds in the first photo too.

Thanks for visiting, Carol.

Oh, so that is what Mount Pilot looks like. I only know it from Andy Griffth, but have wanted to visit NC ever since (yeah, okay, a long time). Looks a lovely drive.

How cool!!! We seem to have the same themes on our SkyWatches lately. Last week it was hot air balloons. :)
