Historic Place

Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union armies during the Civil War and 18th president of the United States, was born in this cabin in Point Pleasant on the banks of the Ohio River.

The one room house, built in 1817, measured only 16 1/2 by 19 1/2 feet.  Hiram Ulysses Grant was born in this room on April 27, 1822.  His name would later be changed at West Point to Ulysses S Grant.

Although it was built almost 200 years ago, the church and the cabine look just like the housez in any neighborhood in New England. Thanks for sharing.
