Gulls

Gulls are usually gray or white with black markings, longish bills, and webbed feet.  They have harsh squawking calls. Though sometimes called seagulls, gulls are typically coastal or inland birds, rarely venturing out to sea.  This pier full of gulls sat for a long time while I snapped pictures all around them.

Then all at once....they flew off....
I took these photos at Lake Erie last month.  Visit ABC Wednesday to see more pics...

That was a lot of sea gull. Our first experience with them were over thirty years ago when we first met them in Charleston, SC when we first arrived at US as students.

As a child I lived near the Atlantic Ocean (gulls everywhere) and I was shocked to move inland and find gulls here too!

I had a gull on my car once: it was ginormous (to stay with the g)! Lovely pictures.

I was just thinking yesterday how I love living where gulls are everywhere, their favorite hang out besides the beach, parking lots.

Lovely pic of the gulls around the lighthouse! We get a lot here, thirty or forty miles inland, hovering over our town's landfill.

Great pictures!
Some one must have sent word to the gulls that you wanted an action shot! :)

That's awesome! I had the same experience with a pier full of pelicans last year in Bradenton, Fla. One second sitting, next second in flight!
