D is for Divide

The Continental Divide of the Americas or merely The Great Divide is the name given to the separation of the watersheds...those that drain into the Pacific from those that drain into the Atlantic...it follows a line of high peaks along the American and Canadian Rocky Mountains...generally at a much higher elevation than that of the other divides...
I took this photo in CO in 2007...

Can you dribble some water and it'll roll down both sides of the mountain??? Really, this is very beautiful.

Beautiful photo. It's fun sitting on the high point of a continent, isn't it? I've been on the divide in Colorado and in Wyoming. Always good views and interesting terrain.

Very interesting. I had never understood why it was called the Great Divide, but now I do, thanks to you.

Great view. Thinking of a good D-entry was quite hard I found, but visiting all the other entries gave me lots of good ideas (yours too). Too late however, allready posted mine ;-)

I've read about this divide but have yet to cross it.

Incredible.

I enjoyed your post Carol. It bought back distant memories from geography lessons at school.
An impressive terrain.

Well, thank you Carol, for commenting on Abraham Lincoln's Blog.

Yes there was a story in the Dayton Daily News about me today. Dale Huffman wrote it and did a good job.

The Associated Press also interviewed me for today but I have no idea where that might appear. Maybe on national television.

My local paper had nothing. LOL

Shucks. Pardon me. I forgot to compliment you on the Continental Divide Photo. Nice. Very nice indeed.

That's a beautiful view. I remember seeing the same (or maybe similar) sign 30 years ago!
